About

Background:

My initial training was in education and following graduate work in educational psychology at the University of Michigan, I trained in psychoanalysis with Anna Freud and her colleagues in London – a five year research and clinical program. Recruited then to the medical school in Tucson, Arizona, I taught and supervised in psychiatry and psychology, in addition to clinical practice and hospital consultation. I taught child and adolescent developmental theory and psychotherapy at several national and international institutes, including the British Association of Psychotherapists. With several colleagues in Arizona, we developed and formed the Southwest Center for Psychoanalytic Studies (Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona) – as a new training program for psychoanalytic therapists.

Continuing in academics and clinical practice, I taught in several different areas, including developmental theory, psychotherapeutic technique, diagnostic classification, general and abnormal psychology, and ethics.

Good to see you are back in psychology!

  2. Oh my, a man who have met Anna Freud! I am incredible curious about this:) Very nice to see a psychtherapist sharing his knowledge, I like that 🙂

    • Good morning,
I’m very happy to talk a lot about my studies with Anna Freud – and especially because her colleagues, those who had come from Vienna with her and her father, were all stories in themselves.
I’m also very interested in your blog – and the stories that you bring forth…

  3. Wow! You worked with Anna Freud. That must have been quite an experience. Did you learn anything about her dad?

    • Freud – his ideas, his teachings, his personality – all were ever present throughout each day…The experience was immersion in psychoanalysis – often feeling rather orthodox in nature, but nonetheless, quite intellectually stimulating….Fascinating looking back at it all…will follow up with more comments…

  4. Thank you for “liking” my post, An Image.
    Sincerely,
    Lynne

  5. Hello! Thank you for the comment on my blog. I am new to this “blogging” thing, so any positive reinforcement is great. I would love to correspond sometime as any advice for an up and coming therapist would be great!

  6. Thanks so much for deciding to follow my blog, Discover Santosha, and for your visits to my pages. I’m really honored to have you as a reader, and impressed by the breadth of your interests. Looking forward to more dialog with you!
